Goodreads brought this author to my attention. It is a medical mystery, and at the beginning of the book I didn't know whether I would make it through as it seemed a little too cliched, it did end up getting more interesting and I did end up liking the book. I will try a later book by this author.

2010 bookcrossing journal:
This was a cracking read, and apparently her first book. It got to the point yesterday evening that I had to finish it to find out what happened... so it ended up being a late night and I was tired at work today - boo hoo.
Unsurprisingly, this was set in the medical world! It's about a woman called Abby who's a qualified doctor but in for training to be a surgeon or something like that. A brain dead woman from a car crash is brought in and its decided her organs are to be harvested. There's a little boy needing her heart in hospital, but then they're all told that some rich guy's wife is to get it. The heart ends up in the little boy, the rich man turns nasty, and then another heart turns up for the wife. A heart with a mysterious background....
It is quite a grim subject really, the black market organ trade, and the fact that the world's poorer countries are viewed as organ banks for the rich. This isn't a new subject, there's a lot of books and films on a similiar theme, but this was quite an involving thriller and addictive. For some reason, it made me think of another medical thriller, Sacrfice, which is set on the Shetlands, but seriously, that one is so god-awful, don't ever read it.

It's been years since I read this book, and I would love to read it again. Harvest is one amazing story.
I had a few things figured out early on, but still didn't want to believe it even after they were revealed.
What makes this book terrifying is that the antagonists think they are doing the right thing, and think they are actually saving lives by breaking the law, the Hippocratic Oath, and in some cases, their morals.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves medical thrillers.

This was a very suspenseful medical mystery. The author is a doctor so the medical aspect was accurate but not gross. Very good book!
