It is interesting to think about how this overly brutal, lore-heavy revenge story was so successfully adapted for the film Logan. I think the film is certainly far more accessible than this, which relies on a healthy knowledge of the Marvel universe and a willingness to let preconceptions of characters slide. The book is dark and some of the gore was over the top for me, but the final frames are really lovely. I am on the fence about whether they were worth the journey.

While not a perfect book (a good 4.5 stars in my opinion), it's a great read and it's always a plus when you can enjoy a comic book without having to read 3 years of back catalog before.

Really engaging and difficult to put down, the fast pace and unrelenting depravity makes it truly unpredictable and really addictive to read. It's so interesting to finally experience this comic to compare it with Logan (2017).
Both feature of the massacres of the X-Men, but the movie reframes it as Charles Xavier's fault, whereas the comic originally made it Logan's fault, influenced by an illusion manifested by Mysterio.
There are a tonne of other changes too, but overall I found the comic to be (somehow) more unforgiving and obviously much bigger in scope when it comes to implicating a lot of characters in the Marvel universe. Also Logan's wife and kids in the comic (who we don't get to know and barely see) give this an Unforgiven vibe which I think is a lot more subtle in the movie. Overall, a really interesting read that I'd really recommend! There's a lot of surprising stuff in here and it's definitely not boring!!

Absolutely brutal and insane Wolverine trade to read. It's a must read for me, especially if you're a fan of Wolverine and his tense, dark, emotional storylines. The art is top notch here too!

This comic was the basis for the critically acclaimed 2017 film Logan. Whilst the film and comic are extremely different, the comic is a fantastic story in its own right. It follows an older Wolverine, going under the name Logan, who lives in an apocalyptic future where super villains have taken over. After he decides to help out a blind superhero in exchange for some money, his life changes forever. This story was tightly paced, extremely well-written, and I couldn’t put it down. The artwork had a distinctive look and it didn’t really read like a typical superhero story that involves saving the world. It’s a very grounded story that I really enjoyed and I’d highly recommend it.
