I love Roald Dahl's distinctive writing style, it's so nostalgic and reminds me of how I felt taken seriously as a child when I read this 20 years ago haha. 
But OH BOY the fatphobia and body shaming of the 90's and early 00's.

The kids loved it and it was a little scary for them, which they found fun. It was different than what we've been reading, so they were entertained.
