The New Husband by D.J. Palmer was not my favorite read. This story was about a woman named Nina who learns that her missing husband was leading a double life. After close to two years since his disappearance, Nina has found love again with her children’s teacher, Simon. Simon, a widower himself, appears to be the ‘perfect guy’ and checks all the boxes on Nina’s list, however her daughter and friends think differently. This book includes manipulation, secrets, and was just meh for me.

I enjoyed this book, it has suspense and it is well written. Even though it is extremely predictable, you are just wondering how bad things are going to get before it is over. The twists that were supposed to be mindblowing, are visible from a mile. There are also some factors that make the book a bit ridiculous since there are like a million and 1 red flags in the girls face and she is still doubting it.

A good read though, entertaining.

**Giveaway win**

I won the paperback version of this book but when I saw it available in audio via my library I had to listen instead. This book held my attention throughout. The author did a great job of making me dislike Simon. I know as a parent trying to date, it's hard out here and also sometimes kids don't want to share you lol. So I get sometimes sweeping what they (kids) say under the rug. I liked having the 2 narrators, it helped really transport me into the story. I wasn't expecting so early on to have some things revealed but it just made me more curious as to what else would transpire. I wasn't disappointed. This was my first read by D.J. Palmer and I definitely plan to read more of his work.

Sad to think that so often if relationships seem too good to be true that may just be the problem.

I couldn't put this book down, even when it seemed predictable, because you came to care for the main characters, Nina, and her two children and you knew this new man in her life was not good news. So go along for the ride, you won't be disappointed.

I received this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy (ARC) through NetGalley. I received this copy free in exchange for my honest review.
Nina, her 13 year old daughter Maggie, and 16 year old son Connor are moving in with Nina’s new boyfriend Simon. Maggie is resentful of the move and doesn’t accept Simon in their lives. Also Simon is her social studies teacher. Connor is more accepting. Their father Glen is gone, he has been missing for 16 months, and New Hampshire says someone must be missing for 2 years before they will grant a divorce. Once her divorce is granted, Nina plans to marry Simon. Nina was having some financial troubles and it moved the move in with Simon up and she worries about how Maggie is taking things.
I loved this book, I loved the fast paced storyline and the characters, and I saw part of the twist, but when the truth came out I actually gasped aloud!

Thank you to St. Martins Press & DJ Palmer for a chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this one! What a well written crazy twisty story! I enjoyed every minute of it and even though you figure out some of it before it's revealed that doesn't matter one bit. You will still enjoy the whole story.

Woweeee The New Husband was an awesome read and a great psychological thriller! I am not a night owl but I was up late reading this book, it was truly hard to put down! From page 1 I was invested and although at points in the book it was predictable, the way it was written created suspense and kept me on the edge of my seat. The New Husband follows Nina, who's husband Glen mysteriously goes missing. After Glen's disappearance she meets Simon, a teacher at her children's school, and quickly falls in love. Things move quickly between Nina & Simon but throughout the book we learn more about who he really is and what his motivations really are.

I read this book in less than 48 hours, it was really hard to put down! I definitely recommend this book for a quick read and an engaging thriller :) The New Husband is releasing on April 14th! Thanks to St Martins Press & NetGalley for the advanced reader copy.
