It is a fine thing to be part of a story, as the titular puppets of Spelhorst discover. 

However, I wish the said puppets had been given a little more story, a little more adventure (both separately and together), and a little less rhapsodizing about the magnificence of the story itself. (But this is a complaint I’ve had about a lot of recent DiCamillo.)

Lovely illustrations though.
