I didn’t really enjoy this book. it was much too confusing for me to follow and by the time that i finally thought I understood something the book was over. This was my first book by this author and I can somewhat understand the appeal because of his unique use of humor but overall it just fell flat as I couldn’t get into and didn’t really care for the characters or plot.

Thoroughly enjoyed ‘Master and Margarita’ so I thought I’d read some of Bulgakov’s other works. Definitely a mixed experience. I really enjoyed the absurdity of ‘Diabolad’ and saw the humour and satire in it. However, my experience of ‘A Chinese Tale’ was bleak- it’s only 11 pages long and it felt never-ending.
