It was nice to see the bonds that were made during this book. The book was written for a more teenage audience and I just personally had a had time connecting/routing for these characters.

This book was just the watered down version of "We Were Liars" by: E. Lockhart. There were a few things I liked about it, and a few things I didn't.

The Things I Liked:
1. The ending was actually quite good. Considering the build up and the mystery throughout the book, the resolution did feel satisfying for me.
2. The characters could be likable at times? I was not feeling any of them at the beginning, and found them whiny and... honestly just assholes. But as the book progressed, I could see some growth, in Aubrey especially, and that's all I can ask for.

The Things I Didn't Like:
1. The relationship in this book was so predictable, held no chemistry, and was solely based on lust. When the guy would say how much this girl meant to him, all I could do was roll my eyes. Sir I am certain that if y'all went to McDonalds you wouldn't even pay for her nuggets.
2. The characters praised Milly for being an asshole. There is one scene where she makes fun of someone behind their back, and Aubrey is just like, "oh my god! She is so cool and pretty!" Because of it, like... no she's a bully.
3. The whole fake out, imitation thing? No. Predictable. I am tired. Literally rolled my eyes so hard at that "plot twist".
4. Until the last twenty percent, I was pretty bored. They were just wandering around, I couldn't be bothered following these dumbasses around.

Well, I finished it. After reading other books by this author, I had high hopes for this one. It seemed interesting, but there wasn't really a driving mystery. I was listening to the audiobook, and even with different narrators, I got the two girl cousins mixed up all the time. I don't even remember their names, but their voices were so similar you could barely tell them apart. I would not recommend this book, and honestly, I'm surprised I finished it.

I enjoyed it immensely, as I always enjoy McManus. The entire premise is a bit unbelievable, but it's of course a very fun read. It's also a bit predictable, but I definitely recommend it. I also enjoyed how one of the characters who feels sidelined for much of the novel re-emerges as central during the novel's climax.

My rating seems a bit unpopular looking over some of the previous reviews of followers and strangers alike. Having read three other titles by this author, I was familiar with her shifting POV style of writing. I listened to this as an audiobook. The narration fit my expectations perfectly. I thought the characters were well developed and the I was completely drawn into the story. I thought the plot twist was a bit predictable, but some of the action after the fact fell a little flat. Still considering the how much I enjoyed the totality of the book, still quite worthy of 5 stars!! Anything that makes my commute seem smaller is granted an automatic couple of stars in my book!!!
