Took a while to get going. King's description of the Moor is quite captivating but I was beginning to wonder if anything was ever going to happen.
Really liked it once things started happening, though.

It’s got all the right elements for a gothic and slightly homage feel to the Hound of the Baskervilles, yet instead of a hound and killing of an heir it’s more in the line of a gold rush claim. All in all great fun

I’m enjoying this series in general but this book ... oof. So much walking in that blasted moor.

This is my favorite in the series so far, revisiting an original Sherlock case decades after. I love these versions of the characters, likely because we spend so little time with this Sherlock and most of it with Mary that the differences between him and the original are not grating.

This is the first mystery where Russell hasn't really poked her nose in out of her own curiosity - she's pulled into it by her husband, and this conflict is new.
