I’ve really loved this series so much! I highly recommend reading it from the start - it grows and builds and I love the way we’ve seen the characters change as the series goes on.

I think the best part of this series is that the central premise is around something we haven’t gotten to see much. At the beginning of the first book Gwen learns that her husband has been a serial killer. She had no idea what was going on in her own house. We are used to seeing that happen at the end of a story - but this is unique because we get it as the beginning. And instead of the story being about how her husband was caught - it’s about what happens next for Gwen and their kids.

Sadly, the author Rachel Caine passed away before this book was published. I feel like this was a great ending to the series and I highly recommend it to any thriller fans.

Thank you to Brilliance Audio for the advance listening copy.

I was given a free ARC for my review on NetGallery .I really enjoyed this series of books, as much as you can enjoy reading about evil and twisted psychopaths

I'm not too sad that it was the last one actually, all these people targeting Gwen and her family was becoming more and more unbelievable, I would have prfered the family to be main characters but not directly linked to the perpetrators after the first books with Melvin

Firstly, I'd like to thank Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for the eARC of this book for an honest review.

Starting and finishing this book was emotional for me. Knowing this was Rachel Caine's last book made it all the more special. The author note at the end of the book was heartbreaking and made me cry. The crime Gwen was investigating in this book was brutal. I feel like Caine upped the crime and violence in this book and I loved it! In the most normal way possible. I will miss beginning a new adventure with Gwen and her family. I enjoyed that Kezia got a POV role in this book and it was nice to be able to get to know her more.

The 'bad guy' for want of a better word, was written well and a complete psycho. This series are some of the best thrillers I have ever read. If you listen to any of my recommendations then this is the one to listen to! Rachel Caine is such a great writer and I will definitely be looking at the other books she has written. Every chapter seems to have action and there is no time to rest when reading these books. A magnificent writer that will be truly missed.
