Not my favourite Peter Swanson read but it's likeable enough. It's based on a blog, written by book shop owner Malcom (Mal) Kersha, whereby he chooses 8 book "perfect murders".  This book does contain spoilers for these 8 books if you haven't read them, but this is necessary for the storyline as it appears that there is a person copying these books and murdering. So, the ABC murders is used, but the killer uses bird themes as an example. Mal is not particularly likeable, but how the story develops is interesting. It's great,
cleverly plotted murder mystery, but unfortunately, not one of Swansons' finest.

I really enjoyed this book, I was hooked from the beginning. The plot twist happens roughly 1/3 way through the book so I found it slowed down after that. I was originally going to rate it 4.5 because how mundane it was staring to feel but the last couple of pages whipped it right back up to a 5.

If you are planning on reading any of the 8 books mentioned in the story, I would recommend reading them first because there are spoilers.

I enjoyed the writing style, it really felt like you were in Mal’s head.

This was a quick, compelling read. I kept trying to figure out who "Charlie" was, and while there were some red herrings, the culprit did make sense. There were some good twists in the book, and they were appropriately spaced apart, making the story believable.
On a related note, I liked that the narrator became less reliable as the story went on and unraveled.
I would recommend this book, especially to book lovers.

Wow. Totally different to anything I’ve read before. Full of the most unexpected twists and turns and based on an interesting premise. Really enjoyed the read and raced through it, eager to find out where it went. It was packed with such unexpected and gripping twists. Lots of characters to keep track of, but very impactful.

LOVED this. Beyond excited that it’s listed as part of a series. This was almost as good as The Kind Worth Killing. Engaging page turner. I knew from the start what was happening with him but to me it didn’t matter and the ride was a lot of fun.

Swanson continues to be a solid mystery author. Although I continue to wonder why he seems to be obsessed with
suicide and killers killing themselves
. I pretty much enjoyed this one. I sadly didn't see
him killing his wife coming
and didn't think too hard
about who the other killer was
, so was shocked about it. I enjoyed it for the fun ride I found it to be.
