A good supernatural mystery for fans of folklore and Howl’s Moving Castle.

Hmm, not sure what to rate this book. On the one hand, I loved the European folklore/horror element. But the male lead was such a pretentious, patronising prick and the romance was not my cup of tea. And why do we love villainising parents all the time?? What was Liska expecting from her mom?? “Yes dear, keep on doing the very thing that made you kill [spoiler]❤️ Next time, make sure to kill me too

Liska Radost has dangerous magic. One night, she makes a deal with the demon in the woods: he will get rid of her magic if she serves him for one year. But as time passes, Liska finds concerning evidence there is something greater at play…

I loved reading this! While there were climactic action scenes, there was also calm, cozy moments. The setting reminded me of The Cruel Prince and House of Hollow. I loved all the small mysteries Liska had to piece together to find out what was going on, and the small elements of found family. I want to reread it already!
