What can I even say other than I love this story and I love Alexandria House…

The first time I read this book was November 2023 (which doesn’t even sound right cause it felt like ages since) and I listened to the audiobook. The audiobook was SUPERB and I desperately had to have it in all its formats.

The story is just as mystical and mythical as when I first read it. I’d love to read more work like this from House because the way she portrays magic\immortality in this book feels so different from what I’m used to. It doesn’t even feel right calling this magic. It’s all so deep-rooted in culture, history, love, and spirituality—so natural and effortless that I started thinking about whether this could be real (and I lowkey do).

I don’t even want this to be longer, I just want more stories.

A quick, spicy, paranormal read

This book wasn't what I was expecting! Couple things:
  • It's QUICK. 2 hours on audio
  • Second chance romance - they were high school sweethearts, he disappeared after prom
  • Paranormal elements - this is what I really wasn't expecting
  • What they did on audio was cool because even when it was the guy's POV (guy narrating), the female narrator gave the heroine's dialogue, and vice versa

I get a very big ick from “pure” bloodlines “weakened by disease” where only a few now remain “chosen” no matter what setting… The romance was intriguing, but the world building fell flat because of that lore. Would die for a guy who could teleport me across the world tho
