Wow this was a very good novella! I listened to it on audio and it was a great experience.
The fact this was written in 2018 before the pandemic makes this a very poignant read and could be triggering for some.
The end left me shook!

Wow. I wish people opposed to vaccinating their children or vaccinating in general would read this. Bodily autonomy is discussed in an enlightening fashion. Published before Covid-19 broke out, which makes this an even more interesting read.
This is very good and scary. It sounds plausible and has an excellent ending. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and listened to this 3-hour audiobook in more or less one sitting.
This is the safe part of the book blurb, I recommend to avoid the rest:
“It begins with a fever. By the time the spots appear, it’s too late: Morris’s disease is loose on the world, and the bodies of the dead begin to pile high in the streets. When its terrible side consequences for the survivors become clear, something must be done, or the dying will never stop.“

It seems like the quality of MG’s books have been steadily getting worse. The protagonist’s name changed from Isabella to Isabelle, and there were so many continuity issues.

As a (quasi) medical professional, and as a student who is interested in infectious diseases, this book was fascinating, on top of resonating with the current Sars-Cov-2 pandemic.

Well, for starters, this was definitely a hard book to read in 2020. Not just because it's about a pandemic outbreak, but specifically because it's about the public reaction to it and the willingness of so many to let people die for the sake of politics. And it's handled so believably that it was scary.
Beyond that, I loved the dynamic of the three sisters. Their complex relationships, the history we only ever see bits and pieces of, are fantastic.
The story itself takes a bit of a backseat to the message and the themes. It's less of a plot and more a series of moments in time. And it's really well done! I would say, the ending was a little too abrupt. I could have enjoyed another 100 or more pages!
