DNF at about 100 pages. Writing style was a bit childish and felt jarring with the dark subject matter.

Jesus Christ, 10/5 ⭐, this was the best book I've read in a long long while and defined the best I've read this year!
This book is full of women friendship, the importance of women sticking to women, the importance of friendship in general and all that with so much heartfelt pain and trauma and wit and humour I-
I will rant about this to anyone for a very long while!!!

The Bandit Queens offers a nice balance of humor, suspense, and feminism. As someone who knows very little about the caste system in India, I feel that Parini Shroff did an excellent job explaining this without losing sight of the story itself. As an advocate for feminism and women's rights, I particularly bonded with the main character Geeta almost instantly and fell in love with her perspective.

I found it difficult to learn about the different backgrounds of each woman and how many of them had experienced abuse in the home whether it be physical, emotional, or verbal. Despite these setbacks, I found it admirable that the women of this village were able to band together, stand up to their oppressors (those of them who were left), and make their voices heard.

I loved this book! It too me awhile to get into it but I thought it was a very complex take on feminism and female friendship.
