I thought that this was an amazing, thrilling love story one that would be just as much fun to read over and over again.

This book is outside of my usual favorite genres (post-apocalyptic, dystopian, thriller, non-fiction, speculative fiction, and the like) but I reached out to the Facebook hive mind for pre-wedding brain candy reads and this one was recommended by one, and endorsed by many, so I threw it into my suitcase. I haven't read "Confessions of a Shopaholic" or seen the movie as it's not the kind of material that appeals to me, but Kinsella's book was a nice, albeit predictable cotton candy departure for me.Emma Corrigan is a normal girl, leading a ho-hum life, unsatisfying job, little direction, unable to wrest approval of her parents from her more successful cousin. But when a plane she is on seems to be destined to crash, she, in a moment of sheer panic, blathers and spills all of her innermost secrets to the handsome stranger sitting next to her. When it turns out he is connected to her place of employment (founder and CEO) all bets are off as to what will happen to Emma, and her secrets. Except like, bets should totally be on because it's obvious what will happen. This is the book version of the plot thread in Love Actually between Natalie "oooh, would we call her chunky" and Hugh Grant's Prime Minister, if the Prime Minister was the founder of a fictional cola empire. This story is unbelievable, in that it can hardly be believed, but it's a mostly harmless romance where the everygirl reigns supreme. The film adaptation of this book is currently in pre-production. As is typical with movies, the lead is played by a stunner (Alexandra Daddario) who I think Emma would pick, wistfully and without hesitation, to play her in the movie version of her life. The dude set to play Jack Harper plays Superman in TVs "Supergirl" so it seems like they hit that very giant and obvious nail on its giant and obvious head.

Oh my god! The level of second-hand embarrassment I got from this book was insane! Literally from the second page. I don't know if I should feel sorry for the FMC or laugh at her. I was cringing for most of the book.
But the situations she found herself in were pretty hilarious, I'll admit.
I have mixed feelings for the MMC actually. Sometimes he was an incredibly inconsiderate asshole and sometimes he was quite sweet. I don't think he should have been forgiven so easily.
All in all, I didn't feel like the characters were giving what they were supposed to give.

A re-read after about 9 years. This is one of my favourite chick lit books of all time. It’s like a warm hug!
I love it. I can related to Emma’s character so much. I work in Marketing and have always felt a bit non special sometimes too.
It just makes you feel so good beginning, middle and end!

This was such a heart-warming book with a main character who was so incredibly normal and yet interesting that I could read so much more of her life. The humour in it was brilliantly executed and realistic combined with the everyday setting of the Panther Corporation (I loved the buisness side it made me laugh so much) it just made it seem like everyone could have their own Jack Harper. A dream I'll quite happily take part in...
Jack, whilst we're on the subject which I'll quite happily dwell on, he was brilliant too. I mean who wouldn't love a multimillionaire who was sensitive, listened to you, good fashion sense and could pull off leather chaps? I thought he was really normal and grounded for a millionaire and what he did for Pete after he died was endearing. By the end of the book I was sold and completely in love with both Emma and Jack as couple (don't get me wrong I'm not bi or multi-orientated or whatever Lissy says :P ).
