DNF. Sorry, couldn’t take anything seriously after
they started making out 5 minutes after a bomb went off and they stole shoes off a dead guy
just… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I received an ARC from Goodreads and I have to say I loved this book. Kee is badass and Varro is so stoic.

Kee Ildez is the hacker for Starlight’s Shadow. A bounty hunter ship that is led by Tavi from book one Hunt for the Stars. For Kee, it was love/lust at first sight. But she doesn’t believe Varro reciprocates her feelings, so she tries to get away while hunting down necessary information for their mission.

Varro is one of the Valoffs that joined the crew in the first book. Varro is grumpy and quiet and barely keeping his feeling for Kee in check. But when Kee takes off, he follows,s and when comes next is a wild ride that leads to HEA.

I found Jessie Mihalik just after the release of Polaris Rising and she quickly became one of my go-to authors. I can’t wait for her next adventure.

4.5? Something about the end of this fell a little flat for me, but I really liked this book otherwise. I related to Kee more than I did Tavi in the first book (though I loved Tavi!!), mostly because Kee seemed like an emotional, chatty, anxious mess just like me. (She's DEF coded as having at least ADHD and anxiety, imo.) I liked how much Varro cared for her and how focused he was on being honorable. it was a good book tbh, I'm looking forward to the last one.

Fun! The overall plot continues from the first book with new main characters. I liked Kee and Varro together but thought the romance could have used more room to breathe. We don't have Varro's POV and the plot moves really fast so the relationship building felt a bit lacking.

Very fun continuation of the first.  There are so many dynamic characters in these books, all so loveable, and that's leveraged so well into a differently flavored romance that's embedded into an ongoing action-packed plot.

I was a little bit annoyed that POV changed for this book but overall still good. I did not like the romantic line that much but plot is good
