A remarkably easy read filled with advernture, love, loss, and self-discovery. A story of a young girl wanting women to have the right to choose who they love, how they live and die, and allowing herself and her peers to experience that.

Grief amd loss paired with strength, love and friendship. Effectively told through the eyes of a brave 16-year old girl.

"Don't chase fate. Let fate chase you."

this book is truly incredible. i have never read a novel with such a beautiful message behind it, to take the dagger in your hand and not fear the blade as you carve your own fate, and are the creator of your own destiny. it is a tale of love in all of its forms, and how no matter what, family will always love you enough to let you go. this book will stay with me for a long time, perhaps the rest of my life, and i will most definitely revisit it. how wonderful it is to love.

I don't know the story this retelling is based off of, but this book was beautiful. I loved the artistic and soft descriptions, they felt so wonderful to get wrapped in. I am not normally a plot driven reader, but this had the plot and the vibes. It reminded me of a video game I love called Gris as the main character blindly discovers herself and the world around her.

A very charming read, about a girl who chooses her own destiny. A high-stakes cozy fantasy that remains fairly relaxed despite the many dangers woven into the plot and delivers a satisfying ending.

Did you love Spirited Away? Did you also desperately need Chihiro and Haku to be reunited at the end of the Movie?
Well then this book is the book for you!

Mina is so incredibly tenacious while also being so incredibly caring towards those around her. I loved her so much.
Shin and his friends have a really interesting dynamic, in how they treat and respect each other but also how they respect Mina and her choices. *chefs kiss*
Then there are Mask, Dai and Miki whose storyline brought me to tears.

This book also has some really gorgeous scenery descriptions, that do honestly feel like they could be something out of a Miyazaki Movie.

TLDR I will be shoving this book down everyone's throat for the foreseeable future, and is likely one of my favorite books ever.

This is such a beautiful story. More than once I let out an audible “Ahh!” while reading. Axie Oh paints such a beautiful world and story in this book. You’re hopeful the entire time. It has kind of a enemies to friends to lovers vibe happening with found family. This is the first book by her I’ve read and I fell in love with her writing style and her use of imagery. I can’t wait to read more of her books! I also need her to write more mythology immediately, please and thank you.
