The conversations around transness and aspec identities are so important and continue to be relevant. A lot of the same topics come up in one, which makes sense because overthrowing a tyrannical and repressive government is only the first step in their journey.
Questions are answered, action is packed, and the romance is romanced. I really enjoyed this and look forward to reading more from H.E. Edgmon. Again, this book is perfect for anyone looking for queer fantasy, messy and chaotic trans/queer characters, and just a funny time.

The thing is, I was so interested I ended up missing some bits. The entire time there is this sense of time pressure and a lot is happening at the same time, representative of how the characters feel. There were moments of breathers but they weren’t enough for me. These characters are so strong and I would have loved it if they had gotten more and calmer moments to exist together. Especially Wyatt and Emyr’s relationship could feel static and stuck in place because the plot got in the way of them developing.
The only reason why I feel like I missed out on these parts is because I was so engaged. The world building was rich and diverse.

This book is equal parts fantasy and queer liberation. It’s about a young trans men who finds love, friends and home. Both with the people who loved him from the beginning and with those who had to learn to love him. Not because he was trans, but because relationships need care and growth to work. This is a coming of age story of multiple teens from different minorities.
They are finding and defending their homes, curing their religious trauma and learn to set boundaries.
This story is so relatable to the everyday life of queer teens and young adults, based about the feelings, everyday life and relationship of the characters.
I cannot recommend it enough!!!

Of course, we get more of Wyatt and Emyr, who are my favorite. I just really loved their chemistry in both books, and their bond gets even stronger in this book. Briar also comes into her own, realizing that she can be someone besides the helped. There were some excellent character arcs throughout this one, and I can't wait to see what Edgmon does next.

This book made me feel bonkers but also made me feel seen. I absolutely love this book. The characters, the REPRESENTATION! THE NARRATORS.
This book is filled with darkness but at the same time there is constant humor and jokes, and just absolutely brilliant. I just can't. I don't know if I will be able to write a review to do this justice - but yeah. I am going out tomorrow to hopefully purchase a physical copy.
