The Fae Keeper was a nice conclusion! Loved the character development. I liked that we got to see the last few chapters through other characters eyes. I also liked that Wyatt was forced to acknowledge the pedestal that he put Briar on. It was honestly kinda annoying seeing her through his eyes because she didn’t seem like an actual person… which I understand was the point lol H.E. Edgeman did a good job with writing that perspective and their dynamic.

The Fae Keeper is a solid conclusion to the Witch King duology. It picks up days after the end of TFK and is full steam ahead from there. Wyatt's sassy and funny inner monologue is so entertaining. He's just so fun. He learns so much about magic, himself, and his relationships with everyone around him.
The conversations around transness and aspec identities are so important and continue to be relevant. A lot of the same topics come up in one, which makes sense because overthrowing a tyrannical and repressive government is only the first step in their journey.
Questions are answered, action is packed, and the romance is romanced. I really enjoyed this and look forward to reading more from H.E. Edgmon. Again, this book is perfect for anyone looking for queer fantasy, messy and chaotic trans/queer characters, and just a funny time.

I have so many mixed feelings about this book. More so in that it made me feel so many things I’m not sure what emotions really were the most prominent.
Some things that Edgmon did differently in this book from the first I liked. Others I’m not sure if I like simply because it broke pattern. Which is just a personal preference.
I really liked how certain things finally clicked into place as more was learned. But I also wish that at least a few small things had answers to them before the close.
While the fates and decisions of some characters made sense, there were one or two that still felt out of sync with everything else.
All this being said. I am still so glad I listened to this audiobook and finished the duology. But, there are a lot of heavy, heavy things that happen in this book. I would say this is definitely heavier then the first. So please practice self care and awareness when reading.

The best sequel—and conclusion—that H.E. Edgmon possibly could’ve given us.
While the whole book was entertaining, the second half was especially thrilling, with many a revelation and plot twist keeping me on my toes. I love that the final showdown included a handful of chapters narrated by various side characters, thus giving us more insight into all that occurred. It really rounded things out, allowing for more detail without risk of the conflict being stretched on for too long. And the ending itself was lovely, so hopeful and honestly just perfect. ❤️
(My potential new ship—Briar/[A Newly Single Side Character]—might not have sailed, and I can see why, but I feel like it could still happen at some point in the future… Here’s to hoping.)

Dani Martineck is a seriously talented narrator, and they did an incredible job with these books. While Wyatt’s chaotic gay inner monologue is hilarious in every format, this one absolutely takes the cake. I’ve never reached the end of an audiobook and wanted more, from it specifically, until now. If I reread, I’m coming back to the audiobooks; if you can get your hands on them, I highly recommend doing so; and if Dani has done any other books, I’m about to go look for them.

I’m so pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I loved the premise of the first book but as that was resolved, I was scared that this book, which is about this world and politics, would not be interesting to me. Now I read this book in two days.
The thing is, I was so interested I ended up missing some bits. The entire time there is this sense of time pressure and a lot is happening at the same time, representative of how the characters feel. There were moments of breathers but they weren’t enough for me. These characters are so strong and I would have loved it if they had gotten more and calmer moments to exist together. Especially Wyatt and Emyr’s relationship could feel static and stuck in place because the plot got in the way of them developing.
The only reason why I feel like I missed out on these parts is because I was so engaged. The world building was rich and diverse.

Edgamon provides a unique and wonderful trans boy perspective and voice in this fantasy duology. So many characters, even the secondary ones, have time and energy put into their stories, and it creates a beautiful narrative. There is noticeable growth in the MC’s in a way that you can feel and follow. While I wish the book was longer, and there was more development towards *cough* certain areas/locations, the book as a whole, it’s story and message, are too beautiful to discount.

I enjoyed the book. I don’t think I was quite in the right mood for it but oh well. The narrator is sarcastic which makes for a great audiobook. It felt like a middle book in a trilogy but I got the sense at the end that it was finishing a duology. But I’d be happy to get more stories especially if they are adventures in Faery.

Stunning as always. A happy ending but not in the way you would expect. There’s always more work to be done but we can celebrate the present.
