I think if I’d found this when I was younger I’d like it more. Something about the balance of how much it portrays the darker side of Faerie (or not) just isn’t working for me. Also she’s pretty quickly interested in Ash when they’ve barely met, and I don’t like insta-love (or very quick attraction) as a trope.

I love this book but I think it might be nostalgia from my first read through of it in high school. The main character can come off as super annoying at first, but I think that’s sort of the point because she does see a lot of development throughout the series. The romance moves a little quickly for my taste now that I’m older, but I do still find them to be very cute together. It’s also not as diverse as I would have preferred either. Overall, it’s cute and fun and kept me engaged even during my third reread. It’s not groundbreaking but I don’t think it’s supposed to be.
Minor: Rape
It mentions rape as something the character is concerned about happening to her and toward the end of the book, there is sort of a close call. But it never goes into graphic detail.
