Great story with an unusual twist...the usual male and female roles are reversed in this book. A strong woman and a self loathing, broken man. Her strength and persistence helped to heal him, and the love between them was palpable.

I liked the book! It's unusual- with two interesting protagonists, dark secrets, beautiful feelings and forgiveness. Jonah is an amazing character - with raw emotions and charming personality. Elle is strong and stubborn, and she is the main force of Jonah's reconciliation with his past.
Beautiful story!

There were some scenes and one liners there were good. That being said there was a lot about this book that I did not like.

The characters were shallow and the part of them that you get to know isn’t very likeable.
Elle is pushy and whiny. After knowing Jonah a very short time she is demanding that she know his “dark past and secrets”. Jonah might be “hot”, but you see so very little of his personality that isn’t clingy, throwing a temper tantrum, or wussy. J.J. is supposed to be a friend yet we know almost nothing about her and see almost no interaction with Elle. The few we do see they clash more than get along.

The plot line was cute but weak and the whole book felt rushed.

The interactions and conversations were rarely believable. The writing was redundant. There were a lot of inconsistencies.

Over all it seems like most of the issues could be explained by an inexperienced writer and poor editing.

Elle Sampson has had a crush on her neighbor Jonah Quinn forever. She has found out bits and pieces of information (including his name) from other people. In fact, her thirst for information or even glimpses of Jonah borders obsessive. One day a mugger attacks Elle, and Jonah rescues her. It is then that Elle finds out that Jonah has been watching her too.
They begin spending time together, but Jonah is holding back. Soon Elle discovers that Jonah has a an issue answering the most basic questions about his life. Since he is not being fortcoming, Elle becomes suspicious. What is he hiding and is Jonah someone Elle should stay away from, or is he just afraid to trust people? Elle has to figure out what to do because she is falling for him but doesn't know if he is shy guy or an axe murderer.

I like the story. It was paced well, it had some emotional scenes and it was well written. I liked both Elle and Jonah. Elle definitely is a patient girl, a lot more patient than I would have been. But she was just what Jonah needed to overcome his trust issues. There was a good depth to the story and their relationship was very believeable.
I wish the author spent a little more time on Elle as the bulk of the story focused on Jonah and his baggage, but I enjoyed the evolution of Jonah Quinn.

This is a very emotional read. I had to fight myself from putting it down because truly, I was exhausted with their hot-cold relationship. I continued reading because I wanted to see if the guy would open up and let the girl guide him into healing. Eventually, the guy gave in and so did the girl. It was fast.. but to me, it was just right.

Worth the time. :)
