Wow, what a book. Even though I really got invested with the story, but somehow some scenes did leave me zoning out of the pages.
The first 70%: WTF??!?!?
The last 30%: Oh good for you girlie
It's bizarre, unusual, peculiar, almost psychedelic as if I'm tripping off my balls. The writing style is easy for me to digest (hence why a slow reader like me can read up to 50+ pages per one sitting😂), despite how exaggerating it can be and how some of them don't even make sense. Although I think that's what the point of the book is; being sarcastic and satirical in a way while including some humourous takes and scenes to accomplish the book's themes.
The pacing is fast, the points are (somewhat) there, but my main issue is just that the story is underwhelming. I don't mind the weird, trippy stuff going on with the book but the story just felt rather disappointing. Not to mention, it's all written as if "It wAs a DrEaM?¿?" trope, which got me even more disappointed.
Overall, I think it's a cool 'weird girl' book, especially when you're looking and wanting to try your first weird girl/weird fiction genre. But despite me enjoying it, of course it has its flaws too — knowing the hype this book got and people raving about it but unfortunaely, it's a bit of a let down for me.

really unique horror book, could be a good book club book for those into it since there’s a lot to interpret and discuss. lots to pick up on that could easily be missed by some.

Absolutely horrific and enthralling. The writing style was incredible and the way Awad describes things is visceral. I couldn’t put it down once I hit page 200. Occasionally made me want to vomit but the obsessive writer in me loves it.
