The third book of Hoover’s I’ve read in the past year and I am always surprised by how different each new book is from the last. This book explores poverty and addiction in a raw and thoughtful way. The characters are hugely flawed but hard not to love. The story is unbelievable but not. I loved it and think it’s an underrated novel by Hoover.
Graphic: Addiction, Animal cruelty, Child abuse, Drug abuse, Racial slurs, Sexual violence, Grief, Death of parent, Fire/Fire injury, and Dysphoria
