I really enjoyed this and found it to be the perfect atmospheric read for this time of year.

This book follows our main protagonist, Milo, who is home for the holidays and getting ready to settle in for a quiet time with his family only to have several guests show up at their house (it's an inn) and chaos as well as a variety of mysterious circumstances ensue.

I enjoyed this a lot, even if it wasn't fully what I expected. Apparently this sub series is part of a larger world and I had no idea, but I definitely felt like it could stand alone.

I absolutely loved the atmosphere of this book. It's a perfectly good cozy mystery around Christmas with lots of snow and crazy happenings and it was really fun to read about.

The place where this book really shines though is with the relationships. I really enjoyed Milo and his interactions with pretty much everyone, Meddy and his parents were particular highlights, but also several of the guests too. I also really enjoyed the themes this book explores, particularly adoption and various different topics related to that. It was really well handled and well explored. Along with all of that, the storytelling elements were absolutely lovely too.

The game aspects of the book were also interesting and if you're at all a fan of mysteries, D&D or RPGs in any form, I think you could really enjoy this too.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and I'll be curious to see what the rest of the series/world has to offer.

I loved everything about Greenglass House. The characters, especially Milo and his relationship with his parents. Milo is a really round character and I could relate to his moments of overstimulation. I loved seeing that on page in a children’s book. I am not adopted but I felt like this book handled adoption and what an adopted child may be feeling with great care. I think so many kids could see themselves in this book.

This book has great scene setting has so much great atmosphere. And it builds mystery in such a delightful way that had me absolutely hooked from the very beginning, I had a very hard time putting it down. It’s fun, it’s mysterious, it’s a little ghosty in all the best ways. 10/10 all around.

I recommend reading this during a snowstorm, curled up with a blanket and hot chocolate. I am buying the rest of the series ASAP immediately and can’t wait to keep reading.
