Entertaining read, it really is hunger games and Harry Potter in one and therefore enjoyable, the audio narrator is very good and I for one did not guess the mystery that resolves in book two, which I think will be even better.

I got this book for free a couple years ago and I'm currently going through all my TBR before I start a new series. That being said the book is a cute YA adventure and had I read it a few years ago I might have liked it more but I found it rather dull and uninspiring. I'm giving it a 4 star because I think it is a good YA novel and it's not the books fault I waited so long to read it and my tastes have matured. That being said I won't continue the seriesĀ

Nice premise, not to sure about the execution, leans a little heavily into mythology, could have been stronger if it went more towards sci-fi. Quite slow up until the last quarter. Not sure why she has to constantly refer to her friend's "curvey" frame.

I was looking for a fast young adult read and this book exceeded my expectations. The story was actually quite unique for me and I had fun with it. I plan to continue the series.

Dystopian is not usually my genre of choice but I enjoyed this fantasy twist on dystopian. It was a really good introduction to Firstborn Academy and I look forward to continuing the trilogy
