It is disturbing and very powerful, replete with rich description that challenges the imagination. Worth reading a few times but with no guarantee that one will be able to absorb the complete essence.

It was such a good book. I can understand why it's considered a classic. Really enjoyed the mix or realism and mystical..

I had to read this book in high school English class and was not a fan. I figured at that age. Perhaps it just was over my head so I decided to give it another try as an adult. Only a slight improvement reading as an adult. Impressive writing, sure, but still just as rambling and aimless as I remember.

Started reading because I have heard great things about it. The first hundred pages are riddled with incest and pedophilia and every time I though it may be over it just kept going. I then realized that life is short and I don't have to continue reading books I just frankly am not enjoying.

That being said the magical realism I did encounter was very well written. Who knows maybe I'll come back some day in the future but I kind of doubt it.
