So Aughra has a kid?! But also, can’t get over the creations of Thra, the world, the lore, everything about the origin of the urRu and Skeksis. Really interesting to see that she’s sooo ancient.

This was a great continuation of the first volume
we got to see the story of how the skeksis and mystics were separated from each other
Can't wait to read the last volume to see how the age of darkness started

I didn't think it was possible, but this volume improves on Part One of the series.

The artwork is still spectacular, but the story has grown, becoming deeper and richer while still staying true to Henson's original concept.

I can already tell these books are going to be a treasured part of my collection.

Second read: 11/29/21 Was it this gruesome the first time? Was all this in here? Ugh. I don’t think some of this was here. This is longer than what I read before. Raunip gets his wish, but he should have been more careful. Why has his mother not done something about him?! When single shines the triple sun… looks like a Lovecraftian eye to me !

First read:
This one details the events up to the Second Great Conjunction when the beings of light, the Urskeks, split each into two beings. You see the events that lead to the crystal cracking and turning colors and the castle as well.
There are also many of Jim’s original concepts as he thought of them, explained between he and Brian Froud, as well as some sketches. It shows how the idea of such a world and even the movie evolved.
This keeps some of the more original concepts and is true to the movie at the same time. I was amazed and I love it.

Enthralling! I just can't get enough of the Dark Crystal universe. What can I say? These are stories I know I will return to again and again. This volume is even richer than the first, and I'm so eager for the final one to be released. Although, I don’t want it to end… Please keep this new DC canon material coming! I'll just have to wait and see what comes of the recent 'Author Quest'. It should be a very intriguing novel and something to look forward to in spite of the abandonment of the proposed movie sequel. For shame!
