I'm almost shocked by the content in this book. Did we really read/watch this series in elementary school?! It's terrifying.
SpoilerA diverse group of kids (well done, author!) with not only their own family/life drama to deal with, who but also have been burdened with the responsibility of the whole world on their shoulders? Sure, we've seen a lot of fiction where a group of kids save the world (Digimon!), but I don't remember feeling so alone in their fight. There's so much despair in the situation they're in. So much at stake. If it were me, I'd just be like, "Fuck this, I don't want to deal with it" and give up. It's hopeless! What can all the fiercest animals on earth do against creepy as fire-shooting aliens?! (I really like how the kids differ in their views on how to deal with the situation.)

Animorphs was a good series that kept me reading. Enjoyed these as a kid.
