I adored these characters in book one, however I fell in love with them from the get go. The leading lady with her strength as a single mum doing it alone (with her bestie) raising a very sassy son. Then there is Troy, who makes me swoon, feel for him and fall in love with him. The way in which he wants to do all he can to make her happy and their son. We are there for the roller-coaster that is their relationship. The testing of trust, honesty and love. This has a parallel time line as book one and does include across over of some scenes from that book. I cried, laughed and overall really enjoyed this book. Possibly more than the first one.

A FANTASTIC story by Kate Stewart. TGOTL can be read as a standalone, but don’t. Make sure you read TGOTRight first.

It’s in TGOTR that we first met Troy. Troy the jock, the roommate that pays rent late, the womanizer, the player who hits on girls he shouldn’t.

But we never really know him. Not until we see his heart in TGOTL. I KNEW he had a big old bleeding heart buried in there! I spent a lot of time during this story bleeding for him. He is often judged and labeled, and he chooses to never correct others opinions. The problem with that then, is others opinions become expectation- even for himself.

Clarissa is an amazing single mom, that has worked to more than just survived. She and Dante have flourished. Dante is a kid that honestly nearly steals the show in the story. Clarissa’s big flaw though, is that she holds a grudge like none other. This is a rare story for me in that I’m cheering for the H waaay more than the h. It’s Clarissa that needs more work than Troy. I was frustrated with her for not acknowledging and building on what she saw in Troy.

But like all of Kate Stewart’s stories, this is realistic romance. Wouldn’t we all as moms be doubtful of someone that had lied? That we’ve seen act out his player ways? Wouldn’t it be difficult to trust someone that you felt was not trustworthy? So I get it. I get her doubt. Realistically, it would take time to get there.

And the beauty of the story is we get to witness both of them grow into the people they need to be.

I would have enjoyed this more if it wasn’t for Clarissa. I couldn’t stand her. He deserved better.

The worst thing about this book were the recipes... do people in Texas eat like that? They made me want to gag haha!

I was so very curious about Troy and his connection to the neighbor and her son after reading The Guy on the Right, and when Kate Stewart told us we'd get Troy's story in The Guy on the Left, I could not wait. And I loved Left just as much as I did Right, even though it was such a different story. Troy and Dante were parenting GOALS! I hope my kids can look back and say we have that great of a relationship. Troy as a dad what was made me swoon and swoon some more. He was a different guy than who we thought wet met in TGOTR and it was fantastic to see the other side of him and feel his pain and see his determination. Troy and Clarissa's chemistry was undeniable and I loved reading their story.
