How to be Famous by Caitlin Moran

I did enjoy this book but I felt Moran had a point to prove in regard to modern sexist phenomena that didn't ring true for the time. I found the end very unrealistic when everything in both books felt like it really could of happened. Johanna starts to feel more and more like the adult Moran on a feminist rant with age and wisdom rather than a 19 year old. The plot has been sacrificed at Moran making justified social commentary on women being denied agency over their sexuality and desire. If this was an essay style book I'd give it 5 stars but it's meant to be fiction and I don't think it's a very good story.

This has taken the spot for my favorite book ever written. It perfectly captures my life at this moment: a 19 year old girl relishing girlhood in London who is deeply obsessed with music and life. It is so beautiful. I can’t wait to read it again and again and again to recapture this feeling of wonderment. Where has this book been all my life?

The most beautiful writing about the Beatles I’ve ever read in chapter 30, but the entire book is lol funny, poignant, and empowering.

Caitlin Moran's books about Dolly Wilde are always cute. I appreciate her commentary on feminism and class.
