Detailed account of author's own experiences as a tattooist for fleets of young sailors, Hell's Angels motorcyclists and queer people, Steward gives a definitive list of potential motivations for tattooing. This list expands and provides anecdote for a series of potential motifs for young men to get tattooed ranging from pseudo-narcissism, to sadomasochism, to religious Messiah-complexes.
Very fascinating and informative read, only falling to the occasional misogynistic comment that are in extreme poor-taste.
