Do you ever read a book and it reminds you of the exact reasons you love a particular genre? Yeah, well that was NEVERMOOR for me!

There are honestly not enough words to describe exactly how much fun I had reading this - it covered pretty much everything I love about quirky urban fantasy novels! It was such an imaginative, whimsical, and refreshing read, and is abundant with loveable characters (and a few insufferable ones, too!). One of the main protagonists even reminded me of a certain skeleton detective whom I so very much adore. (;

I've gotta admit, I was a bit sceptical of this book before reading it. It's not even been officially released yet, but it's being labelled as the next big sensation, with movie rights already sold to 20th Century Fox. Now, I've never read Harry Potter (shocker, I know), but even I know that comparing a new series to the books that took the world by storm is a pretty ballsy move, and I've seen these sorts of books crash and burn in the past.

But all that aside, I can guarantee that this one is gonna go far because it will perfectly suit many readers of any age with a fondness for magic (and kinda maybe also because I'm gonna be shoving this at pretty much every person looking for a Christmas present for their children).

tl;dr: READ THIS BOOK (just don't close your eyes. you'll miss all the fun!!!)

Thank you Hachette for providing a copy for review!

This did not lag for me for a single second. I wanted to devour it in one sitting, and the new one comes out today!!!
Morrigan Crow was born on Eventide, so when the next Eventide rolls around she is supposed to die. But when Jupiter North shows up and makes a bid for her with his crazy ginger hair, everything changes. And you will DIE happy reading this book. ❤😍❤

A lot of fun. Definitely one to recommend instead of you know what.

This was a 3.5 for me. It was good!...but that's it. It wasn't terribly memorable and doesn't really make me want to read the next book in the series.

Also, don't bother with the audiobook unless you like over-the-top English accents for some of the characters.

This was a complete delight. I seem to be on a lucky kick of magical places and excellent heroines lately. Also, I might need a shelf about magical castles/houses/hotels.

i don't read a lot of middle grade. aside from percy jackson and ruby redfort, i just don't. but boy am i glad i picked up nevermoor. i started it last year but didn't really get into it and only decided to read it as i was on a plane with nothing else to read.

one of the biggest selling points in nevermoor was the writing. everything was so well worded i just couldn't tear myself away from the book. there was only a few slow bits (but they were so few and far apart that it's probably not even worth mentioning). the world building was really well written. i didn't feel overwhelmed or bored due to too much focus on minor things. i really liked that one of the characters was a giant cat and no one seemed to mind??? the adventure also really made this book worthwhile.

as for characters, i absolutely loved morrigan. she was so much fun to read about, and very relatable. i liked the way she handled situations in order to get through the trials. another fav is jupiter north. it's really not that hard to love him. he's so flamboyant and out there. he reminds me a little of cinna from the hunger games. if he wasn't in the story, i probably wouldn't have finished reading it. jupiter north is nevermoor.

the ???? ending ???? wow !!! (need i say more?)

i would love to know more about nevermoor. it seems like such a fun place to live.  and if you still don't feel compelled to pick this book up, lets just say the lack of romance was a welcoming thing.

When I first read the synopsis of this book, I thought it sounded interesting; even so, a month or two later when I found it at the store, I didn't buy it immediately. At the time, I was in the process of deciding what book to read next. It was a cross between this one and two others. It was a difficult choice but it was made when I read Nevermoor's first sentence:

"The journalists arrived before the coffin did."

Now that caught my eye.
I was sold.
And I cannot tell you how surprised I was when I fell in love with this book.
I was so torn when I got halfway through, I both wanted to finish it as quick as I could (so to figure out what was going on) and take my time with it (cause damn this was just fun to read and the last thing I wanted was to rush). Honestly, I can't remember any book giving me such a torn feeling before. It was rather fascinating actually.
Out of everything I've read this year (which isn't a huge amount, but muchbetter then I've done in recent years for to college) this is probably my favorite.
I wish I could give more then five stars, it deserves it after my splendid read-thru and I CANNOT wait to read book 2.
Well done Nevermoor, well done.
