a book that frustrated me to no end that was also endlessly entertaining at the same time
all the mentions of self-harm made me rly uncomfortabl so i mostly had to skip through them, same for the sex scenes
i could figure out the resolution of the mystery by the end but all the clues made sense and enhanced the experience overall 
i think i would've rated this a bit lower if i wasnt watching the series at the same time

This thriller follows Camille, a reporter, who must return to her small hometown to cover the story of two recent killings of young girls. Camille is faced with a challenge - to return to her hometown and stay with her estranged mother and step sister while trying to uncover the truth. Camille needs to get a good story for a much needed big break in her career. But can she handle this trip back home? 

This book was simply not for me. I found the characters unlikeable and I didn't feel connected to them. Not with one person in the whole town. 

The writing wasn't bad, but I felt like some information was irrelevant to the story. It seemed long and certain parts were boring? Which usually is not the case for thrillers. Still wondering the relevance of these hogs.. 

The storyline didn't pick up until about 75% of the way in.  And still, everything wrapped up quickly and the ending was predictable and anticlimactic. I probably wouldn't have finished this one if not for buddy reading it. 

Flynn's debut novel fell flat for me. Rating it 2 stars. Not sure if I'll pick another one up from this author. Although, I have read good reviews from her later novels.
