Thank you to Riverhead and Librofm for the free audiobook of Red at the Bone.

This was a really powerful book in a small package. The audiobook performances were done so well - I listened to almost the whole thing in one sitting. The story moves around in time and between characters - but with the narration I never felt lost. I loved the way the history of a family was unraveled throughout the story. Highly recommend!

Woodson’s writing is always quick but poignant. There were moments in the book I loved and others I didn’t care for as much. I loved the perspectives of Sabe and Iris. I wish it had more from Aubrey.
