Another great volume. This arc continues to be action packed and pulling at my heartstrings. This volume particularly gives Bakugo, Deku, and Aizawa time to shine. It’s great to see Bakugo really starting to mature, especially when faced with such a difficult battle. The author does a great job of making the action fast-paced but infusing character moments at the same time.

I'll be honest, this is more like a 4.5 than a solid 4 like the other MHA I've reviewed recently.
Chapter 285 is intense. I'm very glad that I just went and got all of the volumes in this arc from one of my library's digital collection, so I can read the next one right away.
Also, goodie, the first one in a while with a character page to help keep track of the major players in this volume. This one is getting back to some of the other 1-A characters besides Deku and Bakugo as most of them form a last line of defense against a rampaging Gigantomachia. They fail. A part of me is irritated that Mina makes what looks like a final charge to get him with her new special attack, only to panic and fumble it, get saved by Tetsutetsu, so Kirishima can do the actual final charge which ends up not working anyway? Like, Horikoshi isn't as bad with his female characters as other shonen mangakas, but still, why hype up one of your side characters only to give a big moment for her to someone else who has already had some times in the spotlight?
So, I saw a screenshot of a panel from after this volume, that heavily implied Midnight dies, and I think I'm getting to the point where she is killed. Maybe it's because Midnight is one of my least favorite characters (after Mineta she has the grossest character concept imo), but I don't get why so many of the students are attached to creepy BDSM teacher? Why is there a BDSM-themed teacher? Especially in a series aimed at teenagers?
