You thought Heath Ledger's Joker was the epitome of evil chaos? You haven't seen anything yet. The Joker returns a year after having is face skinned. He steals back his face and straps it onto his . . . Uh, face (sometimes even upside down). The Joker says that now all is stripped away and he is his true self. Now the villain acts more like a super villain. In one of his first appearances, he sneaks into the police station and kills an entire room of armed police officers . . . alone.

The Joker misses his old adversary, "Bats." Batman's "family," according to the Joker, has made him soft and weak. Therefore, the Joker intends to kill off all of Batman Inc. Snyder does his homework for these graphic novels. He dives into the history of Batman lore and makes subtle nods to the past. All of your Batman favorites are here: Catwoman, Penguin, Clayface, Scarecrow, Two Face, the Riddler, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, the familiar faces in the GCPD, the numerous incarnations of Robin, etc. The artwork is incredible here and is sometimes outright disturbing. This "new Joker" is more evil than other previous incarnation. This is a page turner!

Well that was...nauseating...Joker at his darkest, most twisted. Out of all of the "Death of the Family"'s that I've read, NOTHING was as messed up as this. True, I'm missing two of the family, but MAN this was messed up.

Which made it awesome. This was truly Joker at his worst, when even Bruce wasn't sure what was going to happen next. I wasn't laughing at the Joker this time, probably because this time no one found him funny, not even Harley. It was...sad in a way. He's not going to stay dead (it's the JOKER), but he truly fell this time, and everyone really wanted to see him fall.

Scott Snyder's Joker is the most terrifying to date, and that's saying something. The artwork is chilling and the story is a real trip.
