This is a really fast paced and exciting book with an interesting magic system and strong main character. It is well written, although the pacing was a little too fast for my liking in places. Leni is a great character, she's capable and willing to put up a fight, and there is great humour in this book; but I do get frustrated at how naive and trusting she is. Some spoilery comments ahead so stop reading now if you don't want hints at what happens.

On the negative side, it might just be that I'm too ace to understand it but the whole 'this guy is a complete arsehole but he is simply too hot to resist' thing is one of my absolute least favourite tropes in books. In this at least Leni doesn't just instantly melt like I've seen in some other books, and Logan gets somewhat redeemed as the story progresses so I can almost understand Leni coming round to him. Until the ending, that is (even then the near-constant sexual thoughts and comments felt a bit much, but that's just me - and at least 0.25 stars is knocked off because I had to read the term 'lady basement' with my own two eyeballs).

It drives me mad when books end on a cliffhanger and we didn't get any sort of satisfaction or real resolution in this one but I'm hoping we do in the next book.

Meh, it sounds interesting, it really did, but the writing style just didn’t grab my attention. I don’t think I made it more than half a page before being distracted by something else.
