Solid book. The beginning felt like Gwynne wasn’t quite sure where he wanted to go with it, but got better as the story unfolded.
The writing, however was definitely more developed from the second book, and I enjoyed and found it a little easier to read.
Overall pretty good.

How dare you John Gwynne?
If I do not find Orka alive and well in the third book I will riot! That is a promise!

I enjoyed this much more than the first one. Although it still somewhat struggles with the issue of there being many characters with little differentiation, it's not as bad as it was in the first one

The saga continues in a brilliant way! I loved every inch of this. The way Gwynne can put such a vast world onto paper is a lesson every writer can learn from. I don’t know if I’ve ever felt so immersed in a story, but Gwynne picks you up and puts you right there; sitting on a sea chest with an oar in your hand and the sea spray in your face. Every character and POV is interesting, the way they intertwine shocked and delighted me. I can’t wait for more!
