“There’s always something to miss, no matter where you are.”
This was a lovely revisit of an old childhood friend. It was just as good as I remember.

A simple and lovely story, I’m excited to read this to my kids.

This was a Newberry winner that I listened to on audio.  It was a short listen - less than 2 hours.  This was a great read.  You got some historical aspects of life on the prairie while having a great story about family and what it means to be a family.  I really enjoyed this one, and plan to read or listen to the other books in this series.

I read this book to be a part of my daughters 2nd grade reading class. I enjoyed the story and can't wait to help my daughter out.

I read the first three books of the Sarah, Plain and Tall series when I was in 4th grade, but this first book was my favorite of the three. Setting the stage for the following books, "Sarah, Plain and Tall" really gives readers a glimpse into life in the late 19th century. Prior to this book, I had never read something about a "mail-order bride". It was very interesting.

Sarah, Plain and Tall
By Patricia MacLachlan
Audiobook performed by Glenn Close (1 hr)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Revisited a lovely young adult classic. Listened while walking the trail with Jackson. 🦮 loved the narration, especially Caleb’s voice; so sweet!

Set in the late 19th century, and told by Anna - Sarah, Plain, and Tall tells the story of how Sarah Elizabeth Wheaton comes from Maine, “by the sea” to the prairie to answer Anna‘s father‘s advertisement for a wife and mother.
“There’s no sea here,” said Caleb.  “No,” said Sarah,  there is no sea here but the land rolls a little like the sea.” Love how the prairie’s landscape becomes like a sea throughout the story. With so many fast-paced books out there, it’s nice to sit and relax and read/listen to a book that allows you to slow down and appreciate the sights, smells, and sounds that surround us.
