Was good but a bit repetitive, some facts like that high pressure will form you into a meatball without air inside get mentioned throughout the chapters as if you’ve read it for the first time.
I learned some interesting facts though. There was a guy who was stung 2200 times by honeybees while fleeing from them and another guy stung himself every day for 3 months 5 times by honeybees at different places on his body to test where it would hurt the most. Apparently it’s the inside from your nose and a close second the upper lip followed by the penis.
Also, when you scream at your cold coffee and it’s in perfect thermal isolation, you can enjoy your hot coffee after 1.5 years.

Laugh out loud hilarious and delightful, I kept having to stop and read bits aloud to my boyfriend and sister.

Interesting with lots of dark humor. I feel like I am full of fun facts now like Quick Sand doesn’t actually kill people? I was shook.

Some chapters were more interesting than others. Took me a long time to finish, only because I wouldn't pick it up often. I would reach a couple chapters and then a week later read a couple more. However, that is probably the best way to read this book.

Interesting and informative but I felt myself wanting more from some chapters and explanations for some research. Some chapters I saw going off the mark. But overall a fun read.

Oh my lord this book was super fun!! While I skipped two chapters (because the information really freaked me out) I really enjoyed all the information presented in this book in a humorous way. I like my knowledge with a side of snark.

Fun collection of pieces about different ways to die or be in pain. I was reading this on vacation and it got a little bit repetitive the last two thirds, because, it turns out, humans are pretty squishy in certain situation - like when there is no oxygen or you crush us. Who knew! Still, I had a lot of fun shouting out random anecdotes ("The most painful place to be stung by a bee is inside your nose, FYI!") at my family while we were sitting around.

This book was right up my alley. If you are a fan of Mary Roach, And Then You're Dead will likely appeal to you, too. The short chapters made this book easily digestible - I devoured it in one sitting while sick in bed. As other reviewers have noted, the chapters do start to get repetitious after a while. I lost track of how many times "you're mostly water, and water is incompressible" was used as part of an explanation.

Overall, the more realistic situations were by far the most entertaining and interesting - attacked by a shark (or mosquitoes), airplane window popped out, swarmed by bees, and swallowed by a whale (as someone whose greatest fear is whales, this chapter was extremely important) were some of my favorites. As much as I enjoy space, though, it was the space-based chapters I found the least interesting - visiting Venus, visiting Jupiter, visiting the sun, getting sucked into a black hole. These chapters were by far the most repetitious and I found myself zoning out a bit during the explanations.
