I don't get it. Why is everyone telling him it won't come up? You plant a seed, it grows. That's just how it works. I don't get it.

This book is great to show hope and patience (and gardening), but the pictures leave a lot to be desired.

I loved the fact that Crockett Johnson illustrated this, definitely had Harold and the Purple Crayon vibes, but the story had nothing to it at all.

Featured in The Ultimate List of the Best Picture Books, Endorsed by Kids And Parents.

This book shows kids the power of a fierce belief in yourself even when everyone else thinks you can’t do it.
