This was a reread for me that I remember really loving as a teenager.
I can definitely see why I liked this so much. It is funny and cute and light-hearted. As an adult some of the plot points for the lead characters a bit trivial, but the book isn't aimed at adults, so that doesn't effect the star rating.

While I enjoy a lot of the banter and adore the side characters immensely, I often found the reasons behind decisions, America's temper, and the miscommunication forced. She makes so many rediculous assumptions and often acts out. But I guess I was just as impulsive at 17.Ā

I still find this story incredibly cute and one I look forward to keeping in my collection and sharing with friends in the future.

This book definitely has ā€œmiddle book syndromeā€. It was enjoyable but not as good as the first.Ā

This book was a bit slow to start. I definitely was just waiting for something to happen and nothing really did until about half way through. "The Elite" was WAY more emotional than "The Selection".Ā
Maxon is becoming much better with crying girls tho lol

!!!DISCLAIMER!!! Look no hate at all, this is just my personal opinions. This is not a bash against the author or anything this book wasnā€™t my cup of tea. And I read it in Swedish - the translation is not good at all - which may have contributed to what I think of it.Ā

This bookā€¦ The first book of the selection series was pretty decent. It was easy to read and I didnā€™t have to focus so much.Ā
This book is way worse in every possible way. It feels like I couldā€™ve written this book when I was ten, I mean the Swedish translation was not iiiittt.Ā

Hereā€™s some things I wrote down while reading:Ā
- Is she mentally ill?Ā
- HOW CAN SHE STILL BE W ASPEN I HATE ASPEN
- why tf is she so stuck up in her attitudeĀ
- I hate Maxon, stupid and ugly nameĀ
- Is she dumb in her whole headĀ
- SHE IS AN ANTI HERO STUPID BITCH WHY DID IT TAKE HER SO LONG TO REALIZE THAT THE SELECTION IS WRONG AND THAT THE CAST SYSTEM IS BAD AND DUMB????Ā
- aspen go to bed I donā€™t want you hereĀ
- SHE IS FUCKING CHEATING ON MAXON W ASPEN AND WHEN MAXON DOES SOMETHING W OTHER GIRLS SHE CANT FORGIVE HIM AND WONT TALK TO HIM??
- I feel so bad for MaxonĀ  Ā

In conclusion it was a pretty bad book that just kept getting worse BUT Iā€™m still going to read the whole series because I want to watch it when it comes out on Netflix. Thatā€™s the only thing thatā€™s keeping me hooked.Ā
The characters wasnā€™t likable at AAALLLLLšŸ’€šŸ’€ It is not a single person I like in this fucking book I despise everyone and everything. AndĀ

what was it with the king in the end? That felt so forced. And also whyyy did it take so long for America to notice that everything was wrong. I thought she would realize something sooner.Ā

Maybe Iā€™m too old for this book, maybe itā€™sĀ  meant for younger kids.Ā
