It really floors me sometimes how selfishly some of these heroines are written. And the guys just go with it. Becca is so self involved when she and Denny broke up the first time, and she almost has this revelation early on in the book, but then she falls right back into the same pattern after they make up. In fact, even when she does finally come around, it's still all about her, and it's just a coincidence that Denny gets to keep his awesome job as a partner in a very lucrative business, not to mention what Jack gives him. Never does Denny's livelihood matter to her, and he's completely willing to give up all of it to be unemployed with no prospects in a town he previously left because he felt completely adrift. Total opposite of what Jillian does for Colin two books ago. And it's not even like she has anything more than Denny has to look forward to in San Diego, it's only her own inertia and fear that causes her to expect Denny to give up everything for her, once again, just as she expected when his mother had just died and he went off to war.

Hallmark movie in a book. Nice, light read for Christmas time but pretty predictable

Bring Me Home for Christmas by Robyn Carr
Rich normally comes every year or so to meet up with his other Marine friends to Virgin River to go hunting and flyfishing and to set up the annual Christmas tree in the town square.
Becca was engaged to Denny, one of Rich's friends and they broke up after he had just lost his
mother and signed up for the war.
She's got some time on her hands as she lost her full time job teaching and was doing
sub work now but it's a school holiday-the week of Thanksgiving.
It was a total surprise when Becca showed up and Denny flipped out.
A medical mishap and now Becca will be staying for up to 6 weeks time.
While he watches her at night at his place she's at the bar owner's house during the day where the 7yo and 4yo are around some. Love that she gets to teach them things, especially help to make the Thanksgiving decorations for the table. The table is so big they move the celebrate to the church hall.
She's also had a chance to talk to Denny to find out what happened with him. We know from previous books that he left San Diego to go to Virgin River to find his real father, whom his mother said was Jack. They bonded but it was not Jack at all but the relationship stayed intact as the whole town just helps everybody out that needs help.
Love again hearing about the locals and what's going on in their lives.
Never know which way things will do with these novels, at times everything seems set in stone then things crumble to reveal a different ending...
And Mother Nature has to put in her two cents worth!

This wasn't a bad book but the main female character, Becca, was the most irritating and unsympathetic Virgin River character in the series so far, at least in the first 1/3 of the book. This book seemed somehow phoned in, a listing of various daily tasks that Becca performed. I was underwhelmed by this story.

I love this series. I found it at Wal-mart on Friday night and started it Saturday morning. I had to force myself to slow down and read this one slow. It is a long wait until the next book comes out. Reading her books is like coming home to a favorite place.

I love Christmas so these stories that involve the big town Christmas tree always warm my heart. It's so nice to see the original characters more in here as well.

Sweet, simple second-chance romance set in a small town in the middle of winter. Exactly the type of book I like to curl up with on a cold December day.

Another example of Virgin River and its residents working their magic. Becca was sure that all she needed to do was see Denny again to get closure on their relationship. She had a new man in her life, but Denny kept sneaking into her thoughts and she wanted to move on. When she got there, he wasn't exactly happy to see her. When she broke her ankle and had to stay, they began spending more time with each other. She also spent more time in Jack's Bar and got to know the people of the town. She saw how Denny was a part of the Virgin River family, and wasn't sure how their relationship was going to work. Denny knew that he wanted Becca back in his life and would do whatever needed to be done, even if it meant leaving Virgin River. I loved how Jack made new ventures possible. Such a great story -- can't wait for the next one!
