Started out incredibly strong, and then meandered a bit with some stories being stronger than others. Turns out, I'm not a big fan of reading in second-person.

Interesting and scary. My first read by Gemma Files. I loved most of the stories in this collection.

A lot of these stories left me wanting more (either detail or clarity), but the overall sense of overwhelming dread they conveyed pushed it up to a 4/5 stars.

A varied collection of short stories that range from the weird, to folk horror, and to the supernatural. Files' prose are distinct and snappy, they never go florid but tell you exactly what you need and more. Files' also has a knack for writing different characters, from film buffs, scientists, and even a self-deprecating depressive. Highly recommended for horror fans wanting a little bit of everything. Some of my personal favs are This Is How It Goes, Sleep Hygiene, Distant Dark Places, and Moon Worm.

I got bored towards the end. Stories where okay nothing to exciting or scary.
