I was one of those people that had never read Harry Potter until my twenties. Call me obsessed. This book was so precious. It’s definitely for a younger audience, but I really enjoyed it.

Absolutely one of my favorite children's books. I remember reading this the first time; I was twelve years old. My kids are just now the age they want to read it. However, I love this entire series, but in the end, I still haven't received my Hogwarts letter.

I only don’t like this more because of seeing this movies first. And probably because JKR is a terrible TERF human. Oh well!

An excellent introduction to a wonderfully developed and rich world.

3.5/5 Although I didn’t love the movies I’d figure I’d try the books.. and I’ll admit… I actually liked it. The book just adds so much character to the narrative. The world is so fascinating, although it took up much of the narration. NOW I understand that is essential to these types of books HOWEVER COMMA like nothing happened until like page 300. We were hinted at things but for much of the narrative they were just at school being stupid kids. And again I understand this is a kids book so makes sense, it just wasn’t the strongest narrative. I’m interested to see where the rest of the world goes as I continue reading the series

Wonderful to re-read this one as an adult. It remains to be a wonderful magical world!
