I <3 Battlepope.

This was amusing-ish. But all the jokes amounted to 'the Pope likes sex', 'the Pope likes to fight', 'the Pope likes vulgar language'. Also, when you're making jokes about religious topics, it helps if you don't spell certain key words incorrectly...it's descent (not decent), altar (not alter), etc...

When I first read this nearly a decade ago, I thought this was the funniest thing ever. Now after rereading I wondered what the hell I was thinking. This is beyond juvenile and offensive. It's way too immature to be funny and comes off more like it's trying to be edgy. It writes like someone lashing out at their catholic parents. Then I remember Robert Kirkman wrote this and it fuels my thoughts as to why I'm not a fan of this man's work. I'm going to try the next volume and see it gets better but I don't have high hopes.

The art is fine and the coloring is well-done, but the plot is trite and the dialog is absolutely atrocious. I felt like reading the whole thing made me slightly dumber.

Note: I was curious about this title because of course Kirkman and Moore went on to do the Walking Dead, but I only read it to determine if we should keep the library's copy, which was falling apart after one read.

I've become a Walking Dead addict, and this premise seemed to be completely off the wall and up my alley. Instead, it ended up feeling like shock for shock's sake, and wasn't nearly as funny or witty as I anticipated it to be. This may be the most disappointing rating of all time for me. Unfortunate.

It's always interesting what my comic book club comes up with to read.

This was... Something. It's not really my thing, and I'm not religious so I wasn't put off or upset by the content and how it related to religion. But it's just so bizarre. It doesn't have any of the things I like in a book. No characters to love.

The concept was interesting and some of the pages were just so crazy I couldn't help but laugh.

I'm not even sure what I'm going to say when my comic book club meets next week.

I love reading wild, crazy, irreverant graphic novels. But this one didn't manage to hit that sweet spot. While some scenes were funny, I found more eyerolling than anything else. This isn't a series I'm going to be continuing with.
