The middle chapter of the Chizmar-King trilogy, which Chizmar wrote solo, is a fine if long-winded tale of Gwendy's button-box saga.

A fantastic sequel to Gwendy's Button Box. I was extremely pleased to be reunited with Gwendy as an adult and follow her new journey. Kudos to Richard Chizmar for staying true to Stephen King's Castle Rock town and his characters!

Nice follow up to the first one. Looking forward to the third.

It's fun to have a follow-up to the first Gwendy tale, and the book is quite readable, but the solution and conclusion were too simple and too deus-ex-machina for me.

Decisamente sottotono rispetto il primo della trilogia. Mancano le idee, manca la magia della scrittura di Stephen King.

I'm not sure why I picked up the second one after finding the first book mediocre, but I was hoping for some improvement. This one wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either—it felt painfully average. It’s the kind of story where you know the characters will be fine, and nothing truly impactful happens. I expected more since the sequel explored Gwendy as an adult rather than a teen, but it still felt mundane. What made it even stranger was the serial killer plotline being treated as a subplot. You’d think that would be central to the story, but nope!

I waited entirely too long to read this series. If you also have these books on your tbr, here's your sign to read it now!
