This series has my heart now.

I love how this one went further into the personal repercussions of being a bully. Shoya isn’t a bully anymore—but does that matter to anyone else? How do you move forward when your past has defined everything for you for so long? How do you learn to forgive yourself when you believe you don’t deserve it?

These are just some of the incredibly important and powerful questions that this sequel asks. I can’t wait to see how the characters develop even more in the third book.

In this volume, the main character decides he needs to fix the harm he caused in the past before fully giving up. So, he approaches the girl he bullied in order to apologize, but in doing so realizes that he has more work to do in restitution--and decides to continue on, trying to build friendships instead of cause pain. I liked this volume and will continue on with the series!

I'm reading this series after watching the movie and I love getting to read all the little details that they didn't put in the anime! It makes the relationships so much more complex and realistic, and I love the start of Shoya and Tomohiro's friendship.
