The 3rd in Smith's Isabel Dalhousie series, which I find I am enjoying more and more; it's been a real grower. I like Smith's writing very much and this particular character raises interesting philosophical and moral questions.

Though I like McCall Smith's writing and this series I actually found this particular book a bit tedious and dull. Naturally the last chapter ended with a shock which will cause me to read the next book for sure.

after not really being overwhelmed with vol 2 I actually enjoyed this 3rd instalment more. The story had more in it and I enjoyed the developments in Jamie & Isabels friendship - major shock at the end of the book!! I still feel a bit more drama as in the murder in book 1 is lacking to really make this a fabulus read
