I haven't read any in the series before (didn't realize it was part of a series when I borrowed it from a Little Free Library), so maybe some of my feeling lost was being unfamiliar with all of the characters. Some of the story progression seemed unbelievable. Some of the storylines weren't related to the plot and I didn't understand why they were included. Too much coincidence, too many characters that didn't seem to add anything to the plot, too many "viable suspects."

Wonderful

The writing is a thing of beauty. The characters are like old friends. You want to read slowly to savor the story but that is impossible.

This is book #11 in the Armand Gamache series, but you can easily read them out of order.

One of the reasons why I love Louise Penny's books so much is because her murder mystery series takes place in my home province of Quebec, in a fictional town called Three Pines, which is near Montreal.

Her stories have a way of drawing you in from the very first page. I love her writing style and how well written her books are. The characters are well rounded and easily lovable and so realistic. You can understand them, their motivations, and their emotions. A Better Man is another incredibly written murder mystery.

This book was so well written, and the major plot twist at the end had me in shock. I never even saw it coming!

I definitely recommend this one! 👌

Addictive characters and village in the same twisty cozy murder mystery style of Penny that I have come to adore.
